UofM Student Threatened with Gun by Mugger

Click on Detroit is reporting that on Aug 30th a student on campus was threatened and assaulted during an attempted robbery.

The attempted mugger who is described as:

black male, mid-20s, about 6 feet tall with a slim build. Police said he was wearing a gray, long-sleeved baggy jacket, dark-colored cargo-style pants, and a gray beanie cap.

Police said the gunman did punch the student in the face before a group of other men pulled the gunman away, allowing the student to run from the scene. As you can see here the only thing that ended this conflict was a physical altercation and a group of individuals prepared to take action.

Since Ann Arbor is the liberal utopia instead of suggesting students take steps that will allow them to defend themselves have issued the following saftey reminders:

  • Keep rooms and apartments locked at all times.
  • Keep valuables secure and out of view
  • Look assertive and be aware of your surroundings
  • Walk with a trusted friend or co-worker
  • Have keys in hand before you reach your vehicle or residence
  • If threatened on campus, look for a blue light emergency phone or call 911.

With the rise in crime in these gun free zones and liberal utopia’s the case could be made that criminals are getting smart enough to target the easy pickings. By criminalizing stand your ground laws, legal gun ownership and other methods of self protection all we are doing is empowering those willing to break the law. Blue safety lights and emergency phones will only help in a retroactive manner. We need to empower legal and law abiding citizens with the ability to instantly react to deter thieves.
