Molon Labe Challenge Coins

Molon Labe Challenge Coins is a pro 2nd amendment company that focuses on making extremely high Quality Challenge Coins.

For those of you who have not been in the military here is a brief overview of what a Challenge Coin is.

A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion (usually military), bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they are given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members. In practice, challenge coins are normally presented by unit commanders in recognition of special achievement by a member of the unit. They are also exchanged in recognition of visits to an organization.

For many of us Challenge Coins are a part of our gun collection or a military career. If you already have a collection of these or are looking to start one you cannot go wrong with the series produced by Molon Labe Challenge Coins. Right now 4 different coins have been produced with a limited production “Prolific Riffle” series in development.

This is a direct quote from their site. “Similar to the Challenge Coins that are used widely by various Military Units these MLCCW Coins are ideal for anyone that champions the Right to Keep and Bear Arms by highlighting the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Greek phrase ‘ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ’ which translates roughly to ‘Come and Take Them’.”

For the few that are not fluent in ancient Greek or who do not get regularly bombarded by the current Facebook trends to post Molon Labe here is some background on the saying. It is a classical expression of defiance reportedly spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army’s demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae. Some of you might remember this from the movie 300.

A less known fact is what the III represents on the coins. This alludes to the 3% of Revolutionary Americans who actively fought to free the American Colonies from the British. While many did not want to get involved in the revolution or were actually loyal to the King only 3% of the colonists took up arms and fought for the rights and benefits we enjoy today as such that 3% is honored in these collector coins.

The coins themselves are very high quality and are shipped in a plastic protector. The weight is solid but not overly heavy. They are easy to carry in your pocket or can fit nicely in a display case.

Priced at only $15 you will find that for this price you will be hard pressed to find similar quality coins.

After interacting with Matthew I can see that customer service and community are not just buzz words he throws around. This is what he says on his site “Our Mission is to promote Firearms Ownership, the Second Amendment and provide Customer Service that far exceeds expectations while putting a High Quality Coin in the pocket of every American that supports the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” Molon Labe Challenge Coins does not just meet this goal they exceed it.

In addition to the coins you can find a series of high quality decals as well as T-shirts. You might very well see my Jeep around town sporting these stickers as I was very impressed.

We thank Molon Labe for the opportunity to photograph and review these products.
