The “Romanian Dragunov” Returns

The Firearm Blog has the scoop at the link and Circle 10 has released the information that the PSL 54C’s are returning to Century Arms. These Dragunov lookalikes are actually overbuilt AK’s that fire the 7.62x54r and are designed as a designated marksman rifle. They fulfill that eastern/com-bloc want for the famous Russian semi-auto precision rifle at a much more affordable …

In 2013 the bullpup and carbine markets of the United States received a shake up when Israeli Weapon Industries (IWI) opened on our shores and set up in Middleton, Pennsylvania. With their arrival they brought a rifle that many had been curious about and pining after for over a decade. The Tavor SAR. These modernized bullpups, built for the mechanized and …

Gun Clutter

From Dr. LateBloomer,   I’ve been reading a lot lately about cleaning and organizing one’s life. One trendy method is some Asian thing where you hold your possessions and commune with them before deciding whether to keep or pitch them. There’s another one out there called “Swedish Death Cleaning”. That last one sounds a bit morbid, but it stems from …

Review: IWI Galil ACE Pistol, An Epitome in EDC Carbines

I’m often pleased by the performance of a firearm. It’s been a rare occurrence, only once in just over a year, that a firearm has given me trouble. That incident was remedied by a part swap and the rifle itself continued on to success in its trials. It is far rarer I’m surprised by a firearm. Where picking it up …

I did a variation of this early this week and I was… dusty. But by the third run the fail duster had done its job and I was shooting where I wanted to again. Pro …

Sunday Sermon: Accuracy is Relative

“Most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on ‘pucker factor’ than the inherent accuracy of the gun.” A note on accuracy. It is a widely abused term. If a rifle isn’t ‘Sub-MOA’ (even if the person asking has no notion what that means) or a handgun doesn’t stack rounds at ten yards in their hands then the gun in …

Short Barrels and Terminal Ballistics

There is a lot of ‘information’ circling about the corners of industry about what short barrels do to a rifle’s effectiveness. I’ve heard a multitude of variations on the actual effects however the two overarching themes are -They are less accurate -They have less ‘stopping power’ Sage Dynamics does an excellent job in this video covering why those two myths …

3 Gun Fun!

From Team Hollis A few weeks ago my husband and I attended a 3 gun competition at South Kent Sportsman’s Club (http://www.sksc.org/). It was my first three gun match so instinctively I was a bundle of nerves, not knowing expectations and course rules. But after an hour or so of being there I decided that this was going to be …
